Once there was a young boy named Tim, who grew up on the Mornington Peninsula and lived the life of any normal child.
He loved to laugh, create and help others.
After he finished school, Tim met a wise man named Ben, who took him under his wing and taught him how to be a skilled carpenter. Together they created many amazing homes and worked on various renovation projects.
While working with Ben, Tim discovered that he was a Catman, and created enclosures for people’s beloved cats.
Observing Tim’s talent and passion for learning, Ben introduced him to the world of enclosure building where Tim developed his love for animals. Their friendship grew over time. However, after some time, they went their own separate ways. Ben decided to be a stay-at-home dad while Tim started searching for the true purpose of his life.
Tim tried building homes for large companies, scuba diving, and salvaging ruined boats, became a guitarist in a band, and lent his skills as a handyman. He excelled in these fields but nothing seemed to hit the right chord. Tim wanted a passion and career to call his own.
Ben heard about Tim’s search and he knew that it was time. He went ahead, spoke to Tim, and bestowed him with the title of Catman.
Tim was overjoyed. This was the path he had been searching for years. So along with his loving partner and mentor, he set out into the world to create animal enclosures all across Melbourne.
Starting his career as a carpenter, Tim did his apprenticeship with Ben who founded Catworks Pet Enclosures back in 2007. Moving forward, as Ben decided to give up on his profession to be a stay-at-home dad to his wonderful kids, he handed over his business to Tim, who by then had a 10-year worth of experience in the field.
Tim took over Catworks with the aim to combine his skills and energy into running a business that benefits pets and their owners. To this date, he and his team have been creating cat-friendly spaces of all types and sizes, and there’s no looking back.
Hi, I’m Rachael, Tim’s office manager and the narrator of the above story. But the story has more to it.
Having 6 fur babies of our own, we know how much love and joy they bring into our lives. Any animal lover would understand that the bond with a pet is unlike anything else, and it brings great turmoil to think of anything bad ever happening to them.
Sadly, Tim had faced this turmoil at the age of 5 when one day, their family dog Coco wasn’t there upon returning home. I also lost my cat Rajah when I was 15 and needless to mention, all our efforts to find the missing pets went in vain.
Shattered by the losses, we gradually moved on in our lives but often wondered what happened to Coco and Rajah.
This was when we made a promise to ourselves that we won’t let any pet owner go through the same pain.
We aim to give pet owners peace of mind, keep pets safe and add enrichment to their lives. While we mainly design enclosures for cats, we do cater to requests for building enclosures for other pets, such as dogs and ferrets.
Tim has dedicated countless hours to researching cat behaviour, sourcing the best materials, and studying business management to ensure that Catworks is providing the best possible service any cat parent could ask for.
Call me biased, but I’ve never met anyone as capable as Tim when it comes to providing quality workmanship. Did I mention he comes in pretty handy around our home too?
